For RossoMotorsport when it comes to Nissan Silvia it is always something exciting.
From 2006 to today, it has been our workhorse, the car with which our company has participated in various championships, at national and European level, bringing Nicolò and the team to numerous successes. But that's not all, the continuous search for the car's limit has created enormous know-how on this famous Japanese car.
So when this project came up, we couldn't wait to get started!
Let's start from the outside:
The entire front has been updated to the restyling version, the so-called "S14A".
This conversion has not only brought benefits from an aesthetic point of view, but also in terms of weight, as the bonnet and fenders are in fiberglass.
The front bumper comes directly from Japan, it is a rare original Nissan "Navan" bumper, as are the side skirts themselves.
The rear bumper was designed to customer specifications, we started from the Japanese version which is much more streamlined and simple in terms of aesthetics, but completely adapted to house our Italian license plate of completely different sizes from the Japanese ones.
On the trunk we find a Navan wing that completes the bodykit, but the detail that makes the difference is the Origin roof spoiler.
The aesthetic compartment is completed by the S14A front lights with black internal optics, and the rear lights, also S14A but fully LED.
You know, the rim side is always a tough decision. In fact, the decision has not yet been made, the choice is still being examined by the owner, but in the meantime, almost as a joke, we have supported a set of the "famous" yellow 18-inch Dotz Fast Sevens that equipped the historic Silvia S14 of RossoMotorsport.
The result?
We liked the color combination so much that we never took them off again!
Behind these rims with an exotic color, as you can clearly see, we find a truly important braking system.
First of all, the ABS system was completely eliminated, then we replaced all the hoses with aeronautical braided hose.
Inside we find a hydraulic handbrake and manual brake distribution, perfectly integrated in the central glove box.
The original calipers have been replaced by Brembo with 4 pistons at the front, and Brembo with 2 pistons at the rear, which bite bespoke slotted discs with ergal bells, 340mm at the front and 330mm at the rear.
In terms of pads, we use Ferodo Racing DS2500 for road use, and EBC RP-X for the track.
From a cycling point of view, BC Racing RM coilovers with specific calibration were installed.
At the front we find Driftworks Geomaster struts which help to lower the center of gravity, to make steering more direct but also to significantly increase the steering angle, very useful for when the car is in a drift configuration.
All front and rear A-arms are now fully adjustable, and mounted entirely on uniball.
Finally, the rear cradle was equipped with Powerflex Black Series rigid supports.
The beating heart:
The SR20DET, a 2000cc 4-cylinder in line was completely disassembled and completely rebuilt. We installed CP forged pistons, Eagle inverted H connecting rods, Cometic multilayer head gasket, ACL tri-metal bearings, ARP main studs and Tomei rocker arm stopper to complete the internals of this engine.
Generating great power from this engine is the Garrett GT2871RS turbo, which breathes through an HKS air filter. The turbo rests on specific stainless steel manifolds.
The 555cc Deatschwerks injectors, the AEM manual fuel pressure regulator and the oversized Walbro fuel pump take care of bringing the right amount of fuel.
The brain that puts all these components in perfect harmony is an AEM EMS, a fully programmable competition ECU, of which we have completely performed the calibration and mapping part.
Of course not, the vehicle is in continuous development under careful advice from us and from the owner.
